DIVER TRAINING

Skills development at the home of British diving

There is no better place to learn to dive than in the sea – we carry out all of our diver training from one of our three purpose built dive boats on sites in and around Plymouth Sound.

All of our training courses are designed not only to teach you the underwater skills required as a diver but also to teach you proper boat diving techniques and etiquette. Boat diving is the primary type of scuba diving here in the UK so it doesn’t make sense to learn any other way!

All of our courses have been carefully refined for more than a decade to deliver you the highest quality and standard of training. This will enable you to harness the necessary skills and understanding to set you on the right path to being the best and safest diver possible.

Our friendly dive instructor team is always available to advise you on how to start or develop your diving skills.

RAID – our certification agency

RAID is a globally recognised SCUBA training agency focused on delivering an extremely high quality of diver training. Raid started life as a technical training agency and quickly branched in to the recreational diving scene. With this, it took it’s technical mindset and put this in to all of the recreational dive courses. This means that all dive courses run with RAID, whether they be technical or recreational, are massively safety focussed and aim to make all divers qualify with a solid understanding of dive safety procedures and a strong ability to maintain proper control in and out of the water.

As a result of this, RAID is our agency of choice and the only dive training agency we teach with.

RAIDs theory sessions for all courses are conducted from the comfort of your own home. All paperwork, quizzes and exams can be done online prior to the physical course commencing. This means that when you visit us for the first day of your course, we can get straight on with the practical teaching elements. Giving you the most amount of time available to dive!

Open Water 20

£600 (with drysuit £700)

The Open Water 20 course is the entry level diver qualification needed to pursue your dreams beneath the seas! This course is designed to give you an insight in to the underwater world and will teach you basic SCUBA skills that will then enable you to conduct dives anywhere in the world to depths of up to 20 metres!

Self-Learning

Upon formally securing your space on the Open Water 20 course with In Deep, you’ll work your way through your online Open Water 20 manual, completing each of the knowledge reviews as you go, all in the comfort of your own home. This allows us to spend less time in the classroom and more time in the water!

Confined Water Sessions

During our confined water sessions you will develop basic diving skills in the comfort of a heated swimming pool, ready for the open water environment. We start with simple skills like removing and replacing your regulator, building on confidence and competence throughout the sessions. By the end of the confined water dives you will find yourself swimming across the pool without your mask on and hovering completely neutrally buoyant!

Open Water Diving

As part of your course you will complete four Open Water dives from one of our three purpose built boats, exploring shallow local dive sites from reefs to wrecks; building on your skills and confidence from the confined water sessions. On completion of your course, you will have developed mastery of all skills, peak performance buoyancy and high in-water awareness. You will then be certified as an Open Water Diver!

How Long Will It Take?

A typical Open Water course with In Deep runs over four days, however the courses are performance based and in some cases it could take longer to meet all performance requirements. The first two days take place in confined water and the final two days are out at sea.
