This course combines both the TDI Advanced Nitrox & TDI Decompression procedures programmes, complimenting the standard & optimum use of gas mixes from 21 - 100 % oxygen with the theory, methods & procedures of planned stage decompression diving, to the maximum depth of 45 m.
Prerequisites
Minimum age of 18. Minimum certification of PADI Advanced Open Water Diver & Nitrox certified (or equivalent). 50 logged dives; 10 of these to have been logged in the past 6 months prior to course enrolment, including a significant number conducted in the 30 m range & a significant number conducted in the equipment. configuration as laid out below:
Equipment requirements:
Dry suit exposure protection system. O2 clean manifolded twin set Back gas regulators: 2 first stages, 2 second stages, 1 second stage must be on a 1.5 - 2 m hose. 1 first stage must supply an SPG & drysuit inflation (unless supplied by a separate suit inflation system) with BC inflation supplied by the opposing first stage Buoyancy Compensator, stream lined in design & adequate for equipment configuration, ideally with rigid backplate & single piece harness. O2 clean Stage cylinder for decompression gas including 1 first stage, 1 second stage & SPG regulator configuration. A primary torch. At least 1 wrist mounted, time & depth measuring device. 1 wrist mount compass. At least 1 cutting tool. Underwater wet notes. 1 surface marker buoy & Reel. Rigid non split fins. 2 masks.
In Deep is able to provide all of the required equipment for hire for the duration of course, please note candidates must be familiar with the equipment they will be using for the course. In Deep is also able to offer equipment familarisation & orientation training where required.
Performance Requirements:
Satisfactorily complete the TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression procedures course written examination. Demonstrate correct use of oxygen analyzer including optimal procedure for calibration. Demonstrate understanding of gas labeling. Demonstrate adherence to conventions regarding prep equipment for oxygen service. Demonstrate correct body position (appropriate trim, such as horizontal / streamlined). Demonstrate ability to hover at fixed position in mid-water without moving hands or feet. Demonstrate familiarity with basic hand signals. Demonstrate comfort swimming on surface & at depth carrying decompression stage bottle. Demonstrate ability to drop & retrieve decompression cylinder while maintaining position in the water. Remove & replace mask (deploy backup mask). React correctly to BC inflator malfunction. Demonstrate ability to deploy a SMB solo, while maintaining position in mid water & as a member of team. Complete a horizontal breath hold swim at depth for 15 m. Demonstrate tired diver tow at depth & on the surface. Demonstrate ability to share back gas with buddy as both recipient & donor in mid-water. Buddy breathing deco gas for at least one minute. Demonstrate appropriate reaction to manage free-flowing primary regulator & deco regulator. Demonstrate appropriate reaction to catastrophic gas loss. Conduct team oriented drills for SMB deployment & gas switching procedure. Show good awareness of team members through communications, proximity & team oriented practices. Demonstrate ability to confirm gas switch(es) at depth with team member. Demonstrate controlled/ staged ascent on SMB / emergency ascent line. Demonstrate appropriate modifications to deco schedule in decompression emergency. Calculate & log CNS loading for each dive including cumulative exposure where appropriate. Complete all open water requirements safely & efficiently. Demonstrate mature, sound judgment concerning dive planning & execution.
Please Note: Course prices inclusive of materials & certification fees. Students are expected to cover their own gas costs, boat charter, transportation, accommodation (if applicable), equipment hire (if applicable) & quarry entry fees (if applicable) & contribute towards instructors costs. |
